The Birds Nest Cottages are located on the shores of 353-acre Carpenter Lake, five miles east of the town of Eagle River. The lake is quiet, abounding with wildlife and fish (walleye, northern pike, crappies, bass and panfish).  Eagles, loons, osprey, hummingbirds, kingfishers make their summer home at Carpenter Lake.  There is a sloping sandy beach, safe for all ages, and a swimming raft. Two paddleboats and a canoe are for your use. There is an athletic area with horseshoes, volleyball and swing set as well as a fish house to clean your catch!  We encourage catch and release but everyone needs a good fish fry when we vacation in the “northwoods”.

Nearby is the fabulous Nicolet National Forest with its hiking trails, pristine rivers for canoeing, and lakes for exploring. Also there are lots of trails for biking and hiking. Golf, restaurants, shopping, groceries and horseback riding are all within a few minutes drive. Lake Superior and the Upper Peninsula sights are within an hour drive. The famous Eagle Chain of 28 lakes is two miles from the Birds Nest.

Your friendly proprietors, Dave and Marge

We open for fishing season in early May and close at the end of September. We ask for a $50 deposit to confirm your week. Our week begins on Saturday at 1:00 PM and ends at 9:00 AM the following Saturday. The rates include the use of a modern 14’ aluminum fishing boat at your dock.  You may bring your own fishing boat but we discourage the use of excessive horsepower motors or oversized boats.  Absolutely no PWC or jet boats.  We are dog lovers and you may bring your well-trained dog(s).  Please pick up after your dog.
